Generally they are considerable smaller, so smaller loads are the norm. Some are combo washer/dryer units. They seem to wash equally effectively. My wife is not happy with the permanent press cycles. She is ironing more often. perhaps it's because there was too much done in one load.
It may just require retraining in these machines.
We have not seen any problems with the rigors of bouncing during travel. Our 2006 coach (new to us in March) has the original Splendide Washer/dryer combo unit, and it is going strong. 45000 miles on coach.
