We have stacked slpendide units. They are bolted down so they don't move around. Wife likes the stacked units better than the combo unit we had a few years ago. Just 2 of us so just small loads are ok. Wife can throw a load in and we can be off doing things we want to do instead of sitting in laundry room 1 day a week.
I have a splendide combo, that was just installed last month when I picked up my H/R Alumascape. I didn't have a chance to see how it came packed from the factory and if there was extra packing for transportation purposes. My theory is that a unit designed for use in an RV may have special dampeners in it to absorb bumps when you travel but a compact unit made for home unit would not requite anything special because it would not be expected to be tossed around. I assumed that when I bought the Splendide it would be designed to handle bumps better and be more durable
The pan on the new one is white plastic. Old one it was just unpainted metal. It has a drain to the outside. I never had any leaks in the hoses just a small leak in a relay in the washer when in use. Not a whole lot of water. Just enough to make a mess with no pan. It looked like it had been leaking for some time before wife noticed it. We just got the new one installed. First class job by Monaco in Coburg, Oregon.
Splendide has also been a good company and good customer relations. BTW did you get the drain pan installed under it? We did have a leaky relay in our combo unit when it was new. The pan saved the floor. Had a pan installed under my new unit also. Well worth thee money.
I bought the 2009 Alumascape from Happy Days in FL andI purchased the washer new. Happy Days had it installed by the time I arrived, if there is a pan I don't see it. I have done 10 or 12 loads of clothes since I got it and I am always in bed near the washer when I am using it. I think I would notice a leak if there was one but I will investigate buying a pan when I get home. I always turn off the water supply when the washer is not being used so there is little chance it will leak when it is turned off
