Do you always check your slides before closing?

I sometimes have my wife run the slide in while I'm still on the roof after sweeping.

I have noticed that sometimes the rubber wiper will turn under as the slide goes in, and sometimes only part will roll under, and sometimes none of the wiper will fold under.

My question is, what is right, or best option for the rubber wiper?
