I guess we have sort of downsized by going from a 22' TT pulled by a 22.5' TV to a 24' Class C. We have all of the same amenities in a rig that is 20' shorter. Actually the C sleeps more folks comfortably though that is rarely an issue. The back of the truck with the Leer shell offered seemingly endless storage possibilities but was seriously limited by the trucks payload (the curse of all half tons). All in all the usable storage of the C has proven to be superior.
The primary reason for the change is that the C is so much easier and my bride had zero desire to hook up and tow a trailer should anything happen to me(stuff happens and both partners need to be ready, willing and able to run the rig - don't ask me how I know). Also the C has 500 miles of range with a 50 mile cushion vs about 250 max, towing the TT. We are shifting from mostly local camping to extended high mileage trips and for these the C is clearly the better choice.
I should point out that neither of us wants/needs anything larger. We have no plans to ever pull a Toad though we could (up to 5,0000#). At 24 feet and change we can go to any shopping center, down any road and fit easily into just about any site we encounter. Given the high end amenities (think Class A comforts with Class C economy), that came with our Nexus we feel like we have truly got the best of both worlds.
As always.... Opinions and YMMV. :C
