Very few trees fall down in earthquakes, and I know of no houses build sense the 50's that collapsed. All the major fault lines are well known, and most of the modern structure damage is almost directly above it. Roads, bridges, pipes, and hill sides are what takes 99.999% of the damage in California from earthquakes (unless you count things stacked on shelves). Almost all the recent damage is from older buildings with brick or cement façade, the modern steel or steel reinforced cement buildings are designed to withstand them. While I have never lost utilities from an earthquake, the hill supporting the power line tower slides, and power is out for days. Water main breaks and it is hours to days. Roads are days to weeks, bridges / overpasses are weeks to months.
I would be more worried about tornados, other then living in a bunker, if you get hit by one, pretty much everything is gone..
