My couch has one with it's own pump. It works great and is comfortable IMHO. I just finished sleeping on it for two weeks while my sister was visiting since I gave her my bedroom. It is firm when fully inflated, but then I keep my Sleep Number bed set on 65 so I do like a firm mattress anyway. It inflates/deflates in a couple of minutes each way and zips up in bag attached to the back of the couch. Works great.
X2, we have the air mattress sofa in our new trailer. We don't use it much but it works fine when we need it. Fairly comfortable and a big improvement over the old jack knife sofa.
