I'd like to hear from couples who don't always RV together. Why do you do it? Do you take any additional steps due to being on the road alone, like checking in?
My story: DH an I have been hoping to snowbird someday. He is gone for work for a couple of months in the spring and fall. Rather than sit home alone, I think I'd like to slowly work my way south with the RV in the fall. DH could fly down and meet me, and we'd enjoy warmer locales together for a few months. In the spring he'd fly home to work, and I'd take a month to slowly make my way home in the RV. However, now that it's time to make reservations for next winter, DH isn't comfortable with me heading out alone or going places where I know no one. So, we're somewhere in between dreams and plans right now.
I am very comfortable traveling, and being on my own. I have made RV trips without him closer to home, for a few days at a time, and even had to trouble shoot a few issues. Honestly, I know far more about our RV and its equipment than DH does, even if I do think a screwdriver is something you drink. That's part of DH's concern.
Anyway, I'd be interested in hearing from others who hit the road with someone back home.
Just stop off at any Dog Show RV parking area!
This year at Brooksville, FL a 12 day dog show the RV lot was full with over 500 RV's from all over the USA.
98% of the RV's there were driven solo by women!
So ya based on my observation, I think you can do it without your DH!! :W
