I understand the husband's concern, but I'd put it this way:
I (the wife) love to RV. If something happens to you (the husband), I wouldn't give up the RV life. So, isn't it better that I (the wife) get used to doing things on my own now - while you (the husband) are around to help me if I get stuck - rather than wait for you (the husband) to croak and leave me to learn it all on my own. :)
Seriously, women (myself included) travel alone all the time without problems. It's not that scary of a world. Unless you personally have issues with insecurity, lack of common sense, etc., then just do it.
