Do you suffer from Stuff-o-cation?

Lizzie...glad you have got yourself sorted out. Doesn't it feel good. Now the thing is, every 6 months take a day and go through every cupboard and drawer. You may find more things to dispose of. Now, if I buy any clothes, the equivalent gets donated.
I even gave up my vehicle a few years back. Even though we live in a village and we need to drive to buy anything or bank I told hubby I didn't need it. I found I would "go to town" just because I could. I bet I would come home every time with something that we did not need. I really don't miss it.

Loulou57. You are so right! The further we got with our project, the easier it got. My husband has a hard time letting go of anything and I had anticipated an uphill fight. To my surprise, he "got with the program" fairly easily. We set up boxes to put things "for further consideration" and let them sit for one week. If we couldn't think of a use for it, out it went. We went to the dump and the thrift store every other day to keep us from pulling out stuff that had already been sorted. We notified the kids of what we had left and asked for input which resulted in us taking a load to Florida. If something happens to us on the road, the kids can walk right in and settle up. A good feeling! lizzie

Lizzie...I wish you strength and determination to have the ability to let go.

Hubby and I are as little OCD. We need to have things organized and in the "right" place. We go through our house every 6 months. Every cupboard, drawer hiding place is emptied and sorted. We don't bring much new into the house anymore. I bet I can tell you exactly what is in each cupboard and drawer in our house.
A few years back I realized that even though we like different table settings for the seasons or type of meal, that we really did not need 63 tablecloths. Even if I used them, LOL
Once you let go of things the breathing becomes much easier.

Have no plans of acquiring any more stuff than really needed this time around.

Getting all your list stuff back, keys..socks..wallets, but no money in the wallets...heaven is just like the IRS

YES! IN my S&B, garage, attic, motorhome, T-hangar, storage shed, rental storage and backyard.
As we speak, I am working at clearing out of my hangar (been working at it for 3 months 'cause I had to take one airplane apart in order to trailer it out of there). Next is the garage, then.......,etc.

We learned from our sailing experiences ... if something comes in something must go out. Sure, buy that T-shirt, but when you get it home...throw one out. Takes great discipline but it works.

We had the labeled box thing with a storage unit that we rented for years. When we finally decided to clean it out, I didn't even recognize some of that "stuff". Pasco, I am ready for Alaska again, maybe next year?

Best advise I ever got on this.
Box up everything you're not using.
Put a date on it, label it
If you haven't opened the box five years from now, don't even look inside and throw it out, donate it, whatever.

Last time we did this we had six truck loads, yes six!
Three to the dump.
Three to local charities.
We have another load coming up this fall.
