My hubby just retired and I am semi retired. We sold the large house and moved to a small house, almost 1/2 the space, in a small town. When we were packing to move, we went through most boxes and, if it wasn't needed, it went to one of the kids or to charity. Clothes, etc., were thinned out. Drawers, kitchen gadgets... not used in a while, then out it went. Since then, we have gone through our keepsakes. Those kept for the kids were Put in heavy duty storage containers and given to the respective kids. I purchased a photo scanner, and am in the process of scanning all our pictures, so that I can store them off site and give a copy to each son using technology. It was amazing what we had that we no longer needed. Next round will be the garage. We will thin down tools, etc. There is no need to have 6 tool boxes of hand tools. The last area to thin out will be our holiday décor. Once that is done, we will be down to manageable junk.
