Dodge a bullet!

While watching TV last night the wife and I hear this thunk noise and then what sounds like water spraying! The fitting on my drinking water filter under the sink BROKE! The little plastic end with the metal clip that snaps to one end of the filter. Good reason to start turning off the water when leaving for the day.

  • Great catch, lucky you were there at the right time.

We don't turn on the pump unless we are using it. Last trip after showers we found a small puddle coming from under the toilet. I was worried I was going to have to pull it until I found the fitting on the back had loosened up. Boondocking is fun but the washboards can be hard on things.
  • Glad you heard the "thunk" and acted on it. Much better than having wet feet as your first clue.

I try to remember to turn off the water when we leave for the day and leave the pump off when dry camping.
  • Better safe than sorry. I'll admit it's something I don't always remember to do, though. When dry camping, which is my usual style, the water pump stays off when I'm not using it.
  • I have never turned my water off, never had a problem. But now is a good time to start!
  • We always turn the water off when leaving for the day. Was at one site many years ago and we came back to see water coming out from under the door of the unit next to us. No-one else was around. We just went and shut the water off at the spigot. Sad but true.

Glad you were there to catch it.

Yup that's why I turn the water off or pump off when I leave the MH. Plastic fish line tubing and plex fittings for water lines in an RV are just an accident 'waiting' to happen.

PLEASE when you see a thread about leaving the water on and the nay sayers jump in and don't see the reasoning for it......post your experience! :B
