Yep.
I just went through this when we went from a 1500 to a 2500 truck.
We have the Reese Dual Cam and needed to lower the ball a couple of inches due to the new truck sitting higher. The dealers all wanted about $180 for a new shank. I took the advice of someone on this forum and bought the Curt shank on Amazon for $61. I took it to my dealer when I was picking up the trailer (I store it there) and they had one of the service techs measure everything and put the head on the new shank and re-adjust everything for free.

An unexpected bonus of this new shank: it is a bit longer, so we can now fully open the tailgate without hitting the tongue jack on the trailer. :C
