Does any full-timer use a slide-in truck camper or van/car?

I would like to know what you do for insurance if you are full-time. The insurance company will want to know where the car is "garaged" or generally kept so they can give your the appropriate rate for your zip code.

Do full-timer just give their mail-forwarding address, even though they may never have stepped foot in the place? Is that a problem when you make claims from around the country? I can imagine a claim being denied due to "fraud".

The reason I am asking full-time van or car dwellers and truck camper RV'ers is that insurers are not equipped to handle full-timing for vans or trucks, but they are for other RV's.

  • Not all insurance companies will write coverage for full timers. Be honest up front. This gets you the coverage you need (extended liability for full timers) and the correct rate. Different companies handle the rating state differently. The same with the vehicle you attach to the RV. Some will use the state where it is registered. Others use your mailing address. Having the correct coverage and being honest up front will make sure you don't have any issues if you have a claim. National General and Progressive both write full time coverage.
