I love my Convert-a-ball. Got it with my first truck 16 years ago. I've used all 3 ball sizes over that time with a screwdriver to push the pin through. I have the base mounted to an adjustable heght ball mount, something like this one but mine has higher ratings, I think 800/8k. I use it for all my non WDH trailers.
I would not recommend using the ball mount for the TT with anything else. It isn't worth my time to readjust that when switching trailers. So my WDH shank stays in the trailer when not in use and the Convert-a-Ball setup stays in my garage until needed.
