Don't what your plans are and how far you intend on going.
Campground costs would not be a major factor for us. What we do is us less expensive campgrounds when available and save for big night stops. I would plan on commercial campgrounds occaisonally. Out to dinner, laundry, replenish water supply and dump holding tanks. Sure you could do this at national parks and state parks at dump stations, but we flush our tanks good when fresh water connections are available at campgrounds.
Recommend to keep some dollars available for those places you getcaught that doesn't take credit cards. We carry about $1000 for those costs. We carry it in various sized bills. Make sure you have $1, $5 $10 bills for forest service and other campgrounds that have no attendants or hosts.
