Dometic Refrigerator recall

We have a 5th wheel with a BAD Dometic DM2652.
Have contacted Dometic several months ago and they did nothing.
Went to the BBB and they still did nothing. Went to the Indiana
Attorney Generals Office for mediation and they are still saying
our refrigerator is not on the recall list.
I have checked several times and it is on the list.
Has any one had this problem with them?
  • Like others are saying, the recall has nothing to do with the functioning of the refrigerator, it is only a safety modification.

Other than the recall, if it is under warranty, they will fix it. If it is out of warranty you will pay to fix it. I don't understand your issue.

Life's too short to fuss over nonsense.

    Dometic Recall Information

UPDATE: Dometic Voluntarily Expands Refrigerator Recall

Dometic recently expanded its recall on a population of two-door refrigerators. The original recall included some two-door refrigerators manufactured between April 1997 and May 2003. The new recall focuses on models manufactured between June 2003 and September 2006.

Recall consists of installation of a temp sensor on flue/burner stack and an additional shield around burner area.
Simply a means of tipping power if high temp occurs and to contain fire within burner area should perk tube crack and leak ammonia/hydrogen.

Has absolutely nothing to do with BAD fridge.......no extended warranty implied or expressed.

So if 5th wheel is new....warranty would cover fridge for 2 yr. (3 yr. extended warranty coverage available from Dometic at time of original purchase)
After 2 yrs........you are on your own.

I have seen lots of posts about Dometic recalls. I keep googling and can't find any. I suspect a lot of the Dometic stuff is #$#@&#@. Contact Dometic. Probably isn't recall but bull$#/@. JMHO

You didn't try very hard, I simply typed in "Dometic Refridge" and it was the 4th item that came up: Link

Dometic Recall "stickys" are on the *Tech Issues* forum.

  • From the Dometic site:

"PLEASE NOTE: If the refrigerator model number begins with NDM (instead of NDR) or DM (instead of RM), the refrigerator is not affected by the recall."
  • The recall has nothing to do with bad unit. It does not cover any replacement or repairs.
This recall (which is ten+ years old) is only to keep the fridge from burning down the RV.
Bottom line is the recall gives you no free repairs and probably has nothing to do with your failure - unless it has already had the recall and those parts are causing your problem.
