Donating RV...

I was just curious if anyone has ever donated an RV? We are interested in getting rid of the HTT in my signature quickly and thought donation would work. We've tried to sell it for several months. We've had tons of interest, but no buyers. It's amazing how many folks are interested and setup appointments to view it and then never show up.

Is there one service that is better than others? We were looking at Cars For US Troops. I couldn't think of a more worth charity, but I am not familiar with them other than their web site.

Thanks,

-Michael

I'm not sure I follow you. When did I mention I was treated unfairly by Craigslist? Never once did I mention I wanted to donate to get a tax write-off. Please show me where I said either of those things. None of my posts have been edited to remove any mention of either subject.

Actually, if you look at my post from 6/15/14 at 7:12 pm, you will see I specifically posted "I don't really care about a deduction since I knew we wouldn't be able to deduct much of it. I was just interested in helping someone that could benefit from the trailer, not from the proceeds of selling the trailer."

  • Were I in this case, I'd probably go to a place like PPL or another large used RV seller that has a high turnover, price it to move, plus the 10% commission and the $500 detailing option (so the rig looks clean), and forget about it. If it doesn't move in a certain time period, drop the price by $500-$1000, rinse, repeat.

The reason why I like using a dealer is that they handle the paperwork. Yes, definitely less money in my pocket, but less aggravation and interruptions.
  • they haven't been able to sell it for months and you want them to dump $500 into it for detailing? drop the price $500-2000 instead.

She is correct - shame on you - and all the bandwagon jumpers.
  • Sorta confused about who you're shaming there, 2012Coleman...the O.P.'s reply seems correct to me, but since his name is Michael I'm assuming he's a "he"-?
