I agree to a point...many of you have pensions coming? I am 58/hubby 59 with no pension (mostly sad thing of the past) BUT we have planned well and lived frugally. We have also travelled fairly well even with
three kids (we went to Europe twice with them when they were younger).
So no we are semi retired and due to end that in a few years; we do art shows currently (this is not he money that built our kitty...lol!).
We are telling our kids (27, 27, 29) to live frugally, save for your retirement (one has pensions/state gov, one has fed gov thrift plan, and one has 401k) but enjoy yourself now in frugal mode.
If you can at all manage to retire early do it...it won't be regretted but make sure you have money to fund yourself later on.
Great post.
We have traveled up and down the east coast of USA, and now are beginning to get our kids through college (YES, good grades help! Daughter has gotten incredible scholarships). All of our camping trips now are local.
This is not a bad thing - so many people always are looking "over there" for something, when so often there is something right next to them. Every year we find more and more places to visit in our own state.
Still having a great time, and looking forward to more!
