I very much agree, with not waiting. Kids soon grow up and are gone. DW and I camped lots with the kids and took quite a few road trips. DW and I are 58 and 60. We are still working at our own business, maybe 2/3 time. We have been to Europe twice, and all over the US and Canada.
But now we want something more, something much harder than a bucket list.
I want peace of mind. I want to change from a get it done yesterday attitude, to it will get done when it gets done.
I am tired of doing things I don't want to do. (working on houses and yards)
I can pound nails, and saw boards better than most. But I have pretty much never enjoyed it.
Instead of being so cheap and doing it myself, I am now paying others.
I am tired of worrying about the business, I (we) enjoy the work. Business goes up and down, tired of worrying about that stuff.
All this stuff for me is hard to do. We have done it the other way for 35 years, so this is a change and a learning experience.
But I feel it may be the greatest gift we can give ourselves.
That being said, should do some work in the yard this afternoon, heck with it going for a bike ride. It ain't going anywhere
