Social Security was never meant to be a retirement plan, just a stop gap floor to prevent total loss of income in retirement. Too many people planned on it to be their entire retirement and are now realizing it won't work.
I say you must balance your "wait and "don't wait" needs. Buy what you need not always the best or just because you want. Do what is needed to be able to prepare for the future but don't be so focused on the future that you miss the present.
Too many of my friends or colleagues have many regrets playing it too safe and missed opportunities.
