Dream RV...
I'm very curious — if you had a chance to purchase a new RV, what would you get? What logic would you apply to this decision? Is it based on what others say or just your own whims? Thanks!
Just a new RV or dream RV where cost is no option?
Every RV we have owned has been new and each bought for a different reason. We bought an entry level class A when we first started RVing about 20 years ago. Our budget drove most of the decision, and our son was younger, so a Class A allowed him to nap, watch Tv etc while travelling. Our next was another slightly higher end Class A, it had a better floorplan and suited our needs a little better. Budget still drove most of that decision. 3 years ago we bought a new Cedar Creek FW and new F350 diesel. Nice set up. Loved the FW and had much better fit and finish than the entry level Class A's. But it was too big for the kind of camping we did. We would travel longer days, stay at state parks and only for a few days at a time. Travelling the I95 corridor in NOVA was not fun with a FW. Tt was more cumbersome and stressful than I liked based on the way we camp. FW is really ideal for larger parks and longer stays. Our current rig is a 24' Mercedes based Forest River class C. (I have come to like forest river and the 2 I've had have been problem free and they treat me great). Reasons for this one; son moved out and doesn't camp with us anymore, just me and the wife, it's super nimble, good on fuel, etc.
Now if price were no object, a 34' Dynamax Super C would be on the list. That would still fit our needs with being short enough, but higher end, larger tanks, tankless water heater, more batts, more room, washer dryer, larger fridge, 2 ACs, etc etc. and a total tank of an RV with huge towing and fuel capacity. As we look at full timing next year we still might opt for something similar in the Dynamax Europa line.
Years ago, I always thought if I won the lottery, I'd get a Prevost or Newell. But the kind of camping we do, that set up would never work and be more hassle than I'd care for. It's really all about what you want in an Rv and what kind of camping you want to do.
