They just started putting them in around here. They are all too small. The truckers absoultuly hate them. They must, as in have no choice, use both lanes to get around the things. And, they still often have to scrape there tires on the curb to make it . Plus you are suppose to yield to traffic that is already in the round-de-bout. The truckers are not going to so this. It's too hard to drop those gears and start over from a dead stop. They just keep on truckin right through. So, lets say a trucker wants to go straight through. He doesn't yield and then uses both lanes scraping his tires on the curb to try and get through. If you see a truck coming into one of those things you better lock up the brakes and stop in the middle of the round about before you get to his entry point or he is just going to push you right out of the way and keep going.
Problem #2, the signage, if there are good signs and arrows painted on the pavement , and there are no truck coming, they can be quite easy to maneuver. But, there is one near me where the sign makes no since what so ever. If I follow what the sign says I have to jump the curb in the middle of the thing if I want to go straight through it. And there is even a arrow on the sign pointing to the left. ????? What??? you are not suppose to go left onto the thing. Why I there a left arrow. And, there are nothing painted on the pavement for that one either. I went around it once with my pickup using both lanes because I didn't know what to do or what exit I was suppose to take to get onto the road I wanted to be on. Now that I know that darned thing is there I'll avoid it. It's on the east side of Worthington, MN . When coming into town from the east I can jump on the interstate and go around town then exit the interstate and come back into town from the west and from now on that's what I'm going to do.
