Oh! You ain't seen notin' until you've traveled through Carmel, Indiana. The mayor of that town went on this campaign about 10 years ago to turn, virtually every intersection in that town into a roud-a-bout.
I lived on Main Street (Thank goodness I moved completely out of the city!). There is absolutely no way possible to make it from outside the city ... anywhere ... to my old house without having to take a roud-a-bout. And some of them are pretty tight circles too. I can see the tires of my camper tracking on the side-walk area inside the circle. I've seen semi-trucks do this.
Single lane roud-a-bouts are not that difficult, but when they are double lane and the idiot on the inside lane decides he's turning off and your on the outside lane going straight to the next exit, they blow their horns at you, give you the finger, and still block you off, challenging them you to T-bone them!
I think these stupid roud-a-bounts are a friggin nightmare! And central Indiana is now going ape-stupid putting them everywhere!
Do a Google Map search of Carmel, Indiana, then zoom in. You'll see the insanity! Then switch over to the satellite image on those stupid things! Sit back and be thankful if you don't have to deal with them in your area!
There again, I moved completely out of the county and don't have to deal with that town any more!
I went though Carmel last year, it was crazy. All the roads are on a N-S, W-E cross grid and through a residential area every intersection for 2 miles had a roundabout. I figured that it was an attempt to slow traffic or make the town have an "upscale New England" look.
