Many times there is far too much traffic for one lane. When driving between Tucson and Phoenix traffic has to be in both lanes, no way that much traffic could fit in a single file.

I think driver's should be able to choose their lane, after all, they're paying road taxes for all of the lanes. If someone is holding up traffic in one of the lanes then they should be dealt with rather than banning everyone from a lane.
