How can I impead traffic if I'm driving the posted limit? Does the other driver see a different speed limit?
Because most drivers NOT driving an RV will not do the speed limit..
If you are driving in the left lane doing the speed limit and there is someone else in the right lane doing the speed limit, guess what is going to happen??
There will always be those that will exceed the posted speed limit.. They need to get to the front of the line, so why not just let them go..
Can't count how many speeders that go flying past me (towing or not) and find them pulled over a few miles ahead of me.. I just call them "rabbits" and keep on cruising.. I will only go in the left lane to pass or to let those idiots that don't know how to merge onto a hwy room, but will always move to the right lane when just cruising and no slow drivers that I need to pass.. Yes, there are some that go below the speed limit in the right lane.. Go figure...
To just ride the left lane is where I think the law comes into play..
Sure, in rush hour traffic, there is no way they can enforce the left lane rule, so they don't..
It's when you get the "I'm doing the speed limit, so I can drive in the left lane all I want" folks that the law has to be made..
Enforcement is whatever it is and when there are LEO's around that will do it..
Anyway, don't be an ass and just ride the left lane doing the speed limit when there is ample space in the right lane..
Bad road conditions in the right lane? Well, that's a DOT issue and your states hwy budget or whatever..
Good luck out there... It's a mad, mad, mad world.. :)
