AS long as those slower moving vehicles are in the right lane it's OK.

I don't think so, since not everyone in the right lane is going slow. Some are bookin' right along and, amazingly enough, are caught by surprise by a slow-mover in the lane ahead of them. To my mind, the main problems are inattention and speed differential. And that applies to any lane.
