And yet the European statistics quoted are based on “vehicle-kilometres” so “per capital mileage” is a meaningless reference.
However, “training & licensing, driver capability” seems to be key to the statistics.
There’s lots of other categories where training and society’s views differ wildly between Europe and the US also, but that’s another issue.
