- azrvingExplorerHolding up traffic or holding up a speeder? Oh I forgot, things that others do are wrong but speeding is ok.
- LantleyNomadI hope they enforce it.In general it's OK to drive in the left lane as long as you're not in holding up traffic. Too many times people are just not aware Of the traffic behind them. If you are impeding traffic move over. Hopefully the new law will keep people a little more alert to the traffic behind/around them.

Amen brother, I wish more people realized that exceeding the speed limit is simply not a safety issue. If you're in the left lane and people are trying to pass you, get over. Let the traffic flow. - GordonThreeExplorer

X2 ... How can I impead traffic if I'm driving the posted limit? Does the other driver see a different speed limit? - mooky_stinksExplorer

If you're driving the posted speed limit then you shouldn't NEED to be in the passing lane. Unless you are perhaps "holding up" a speeder? Sounds like road rage to me. Maybe that's why they have a law about that too? - ScottGNomadThere you go folks, welcome to the mind-set of the offender.

I had friend who was at the speed limit in the left lane and wouldn't move. The cops pulled him over, and told him is was not in his authority to enforce the law, then gave him some kind of ticket. This was many years ago. In Oregun, they will ticket you. The left lane is for passing, but I get that there's often too much traffic in the right lane. - fj12ryderExplorer IIIYep, I have the mindset of an offender, and proud of it. Last time I looked those speed limit signs were mere steel and paint, not carved in stone. They're just reasonable suggestions. I do obey the speed limit where it is sensible to do so: congested areas, work zones, school zones, city surface streets, etc. But the wide-open interstate with little to no traffic? Not a chance.
No sense having a bike that will do 140+ and never get over 75. - wnjjExplorer II

X2. Travel speeds are dumbed down one size fits all because anything else would be a nightmare to enact. The reality is much more like you describe: it depends upon the conditions and traffic. If you’re scared of speed, staying out of the way is easy enough most of the time.
Camping in the left lane impededing traffic is either obliviousness or intentionally being a jerk. - Grit_dogNavigator

im not sure of you're suggesting you think people should drive faster or slower...
Let's hope they enforce the speed limit as enthusiastically. If folks weren't in such a hurry thinking the speed limit only applies to other people, the left lane wouldn't be so congested.
