To folks not familiar with this type of motorcycle, high speed sounds death defying. They do not feel like you are going as fast as you are. They are designed to handle speeds up to 200 mph, which the tires are rated for also. Some years back, as many different brands were nearing 200 mph capability, the Fed Gov stepped in, not allowing new models to be sold, that were capable of more than 186 mph. Mine is geared to only go 175 mph, but I have never pushed past 160 mph, and did not involve other traffic. Injuries, accidents, and high cost of insurance, have made these models less popular than they once were.

Got that right.

100 mph is a walk in the park(in mexico)
Doesn't matter to me if you're in the left lane when I'm on my bike.:p - TvovExplorer II

We have HOV lanes on our major highways here. Some drivers think just because they have 2 or more persons in their car, they are *REQUIRED* to drive in the HOV lane. They often drive at, under and sometimes well under the posted speed limit which is so friggin' annoying, especially when drivers in the leftmost fast lane are going waaay above the posted speed limit. Sometimes you can get stuck behind one of them with no possibility of getting around them when traffic is heavy.
We've had some drivers think it's funny to stick a life-like dummy in the passenger seat and drive in the HOV lane. The cops seem to spot them okay but not the slow-pokes. Haven't seen an RV in an HOV lane yet tho. :)
I'm not sure I understand your post.
So people in the HOV lanes are required to drive faster than the speed limit? - MFLNomad II

If I were riding a motorcycle at 150mph, the guy behind me would drop off pretty quick, because I'd pee my pants, if not more!
If riding my FZ1000, I'd bump up to 115-120 mph, see if he'd take the bait, and how fast is he willing to go. If he is willing to go past 150 mph, which is MY new personal limit, not the bikes, then I'd get out of his way, let him proceed.

Jerry - buckyExplorer IIRalph' s comment about the merging game happens all the time. As a result I will slow slightly to let them in but I no longer will move over in any heavier traffic scenario that could get me trapped. This only applies when towing.
If they can't figure out how to merge my dash cam will help the LEO figure it out. The last time an idiot ran into me the Trooper laughed at the audio when I said a bad word as the clown drove his 5th wheel right into me and said it was my fault.

So, you're on a highway with a posted speed limit of 65mph and lanes 2,3 & 4 are pacing at that speed. Meanwhile, you are cruising along in lane #1 at 90mph. You look in the rear view mirror and see another vehicle gaining on you quick, doing 110mph. What would do? Would you slow down to 65 and merge into lane #2, or continue cruising at 90, thinking the person behind you is reckless and being a butthead, and continue on your merry way?
Answer honestly!
I give it more gas and get in front of the guy to the right of me so I can be courteous to the person who wants to go faster. Also puts a cop magnet in front of me more likely to be pulled over. Never take anything personally, getting mad at a faster driver is ridiculous. I also don't get close unless someone has had a chance to pull over and let me by. Brake checks on interstates cause many people to have to slow quickly, idiots brake check and speed up to keep you from passing.
X2. Exactly my response to that situation. - mjbenedictExplorer

State law already includes a passage directing slow traffic to stay right, that reads:
"On all roadways, a person driving a vehicle proceeding at less than the normal speed of traffic ... shall drive the vehicle in the right-hand lane then available for traffic ... except when overtaking and passing another vehicle ... or when preparing for a left turn."
For you self proclaimed traffic cops you notice it doesnt say anything about the speed limit. It says proceeding at less than the normal speed of traffic - Ralph_CramdenExplorer II

Honest question to the slo pokes here. 6am, heading to work (daily). 45-50 mph 2 lane road. 3 of 5 days a week at least, there is someone going 35-40mph holding up traffic. If safe to pass, I leave em in the dust (or rain as the case may be). Sometimes there’s a lineup behind them and have to gut it out for like 5 miles.
The common response after being passed is flipped off, bright lights etc. doesn’t matter if it’s Humberto in a 1979 F100, grandma in a Hunday, or Moonstar in a Suberu.
Who’s wrong in this scenario??
So, you don't get the buffoons that tool along like the toolbags they are at 35 in a 50 zone on the 2 lane, around all the curves and over the hills and other blind-spots, until they get to the passing zone? Then they anticipate your going to make a pass when they get to the passing zone or other place its safe to make the pass, and their right foot suddenly gets heavy and they turn into John Force? Never happened to ya? I've also had dumosses wait until I was in the other lane beside them making the pass then speed up, a few times with oncoming traffic up ahead. - Grit_dogNavigator@ myredracer HOV lane loafers are the worst! Except for maybe the ETL lane loafers who actually pay money to p!ss people off!
Nothing like 30,000cars per hour trying to get to work and the ETL lane is doing its job for the paying customers and there’s someone doing 51 mph in the leftist most lane and ya can’t even pass them legally due to the double stripe I installed myself on there last year! It’s like I sealed my own fate! Lol
