I'd like to hear some opinions and considerations on dumping your freshwater tank. Where do you do it?
I'd question
why you would want to dump
any fresh water at all. :h Even though your trailer may have a 100 gal tank, after camping for even just a couple of days surely it's not anywhere near full but rather probably at least half empty, if not more ... 50 gals is ~ 400 lbs so presuming your trailer was designed with a 100 gal capacity tank what advantage is there in dumping 50 valuable gals of fresh water that you'd only have to replace later? :h I fill and pressurize the fresh water system at the beginning of the season and it remains that way until I winterize in late fall - no way would I ever unnecessarily dump fresh water. Mine is just a 30 gal tank but I always travel with it at least partially full so I can use the system anywhere at any time, whether actually camping or not. If it's really early or late in the season when campground fresh water may not be available I fill the tank completely as the weight of 30 gals of water is neither here nor there in terms of towing. In fact, in those circumstances I'll often augment that with another 28 gals contained in four 7 gal Aquatainers sitting in the back of the truck so along with 6 gals in the water heater tank I can start my trip with as much as 30+6+28=64 gals of fresh water ... no reason not to. :)
