E15 Gas Introduced, Car Mfgs Warn Not To Use It

The energy in fuel with 10% E is way less. Enough that my X could barely hold 55mph in a headwind. When i switched to 93 octane my power and mileage came back. When i fill up in WI with real gas my X runs like it was supposed to.

Why would it kill power? One can get more power out of alkie, not less. Mileage is a different story.

The use of 15% ethanol voids the warranty on Onan Generators, my John Deere 300X Tractor, and my new 40 hp Mercury Outboard. I use StaBil ethanol additive in ALL my gas engines on each fill, except every other fill on the Chevy. When I'm going to use the genny I treat the Chevy tank each time I fill.

Ethanol has wrecked havoc with a lot of small engines. 10% blend has been seen to ruin gas tanks and engines on many motorcycles. Most motorcycle manufacturers recommend not using ethanol laden gas at all. Luckily non-ethanol gas stations do exist. Of course it does cost more, but you also see better mpg out of it.
Now as far as use of ethanol gas in RV's and possible consequences I have not seen any. I would not use a 15% blend though. As for rationing and shortages, the current higher costs of gas seem to be from our exporting of oil to other countries, versus a shortage.

I believe that the EPA is now backing away from the 15% requirement due to all the push back from everyone. It you look at the link weathershak provided and scroll down there are links to the EPA articles. We have had 10% ethanol around here for years and no suppliers have the 15% to date.

I'll take it.......if there is a gas shortage and/or rationing.

Yep, the 10% was bad enough, now the 15% blend. OUCH. If you look close enough, there are different blends of gas throughout the US. That is one of the reasons why todays fuels are so expensive. What might be a good blend, and required in large cities, is not the same blend offered just 100 miles away. Summer blend, Winter blend, different states requiring a SPECIAL blend for there use. I think there is over 200 different blends of fuel"s sold in the US.
