E2 WDH

We bought the E2 because the reviews were good, the price was right and the lighter rated equalizer was a little too light and the next size up was 1000 or 1200 (I forget). The E2 has an 800# version which fit the bill. We towed with it for one season so far and it seems great. No problem with sway and the TV no longer bounces.

Btw, they're made by the same company.

My 800# E2 has performed well in its first year. My setup is a 2012 Nissan Frontier towing a Jayco X17C HTT. GVWR on TT is 3500# with an actual tongue weight just under 500#. Since I'm a little short on wheelbase on the Nissan, I opted for a WD hitch. Easy enough to hitch/unhitch but I'm adding an electric tongue jack to help with all of the cranking! Found my E2 on-line for $253 delivered back in April.

It's a basic WDH with friction sway control. I recommend something with integrated sway control like the 4pt Equal-i-zer.

The 1000 pound bars of the Equal-i-zer are designed for 400-1000 pounds of TW.

The E2 uses the exact same sway control at the end of the bars as the equalizer. The equalizer has two additional friction points at the ball. I'm not sure how effective the extra two point are...I'm sure they add to the sway control, but looking at the design it would appear as if most of the friction would be at the end of the bars mounted on the trailer frame, same as the E2.

The E2 is made overseas.
the 4 point Equal-i-zer is American-made and superior to the E2.

I was at CW and they had both the Equal-I-zer and Fastway E2 trunion on display. For the life of me I cannot see where the one is 2-way and the other is 4-way. The both have the same design. What am I missing?

Kinda sort of..

They are both products of Progress Mfg.

However, the Equal-i-zer brand with 4-point sway control is made in the USA.

The Fastway E2 brand is made in China.

Also note:
E2 has a single head for all size bars.
Equal-i-zer has a different head for each bar size.

The Equal-i-zer has a friction anti-sway point in the head.

Watch this video, note how the Equal-i-zer bars (incorrectly called E4) are resistant to the swinging movement.

About 80% of the sway control comes from the hitch head friction points. The friction points at the end of the bars actually add very little sway control to the 4 point Equal-i-zer.
