Easiest to handle WD/sway control system?

At some point next year I'm going to buy a tow vehicle and small trailer. Still sitting on the fence about both, but will likely need a good weight distribution/sway control system. (I was planning to do this late this year, but have a knee replacement scheduled for late August, which pretty well puts me out of action for the fall camping season.)

I'm familiar with the E-qual-izer system, which is definitely very effective and not difficult to use. However, I can barely pick up the hitch head by myself (especially without hurting my back.)

What system is equally effective, but has lighter weight components? When I look at different setups, they give total weight, but not the heaviest part, which is what concerns me.
  • I am a 65 year old female. When I bought my travel trailer, the dealer suggested that I just leave the hitch head on my tow vehicle all the time. This has worked great for me and hooking up the trailer is a breeze. Be sure and put a locking pin on it to prevent theft.
  • agree on the Andersen WDHs, especially for lighter trailers.

i wouldn't use one with a heavy long trailer though.
  • The Anderson is probably lightest. It's not the best for a really heavy trailer, but should be fine for a moderately sized one. Get an electric jack too.
