Yes, we are also usually quite disappointed with restaurant meals too. Even the fine dining ridiculous ones. Having spent so many years (nearly 40) entertaining customers of my Engineering business etc, we became so tired of overpriced marginal quality meals and sometimes average at best service.
Both my wife and I are superb cooks and love cooking and yes, even doing it together too. Our kids and their families and others always want us to cook for "get-togethers" too. So our cooking must be OK! Yes, we still do go out to eat sometimes but choose as wisely as we can. The finest atmosphere doesn't make a meal taste one bit better as it's the same food if served in simple surroundings. Just is done at a fraction of the price and usually in half the time. Not cheap by any stretch and don't want something for nothing because a restaurant must make a profit or it will be gone. Just give us real decent food that's prepared properly and has great flavors and doesn't raid our bank account.
Long retired (15 years now) and our 52nd year of RV'ing a lot. Over 100 nights/year all around the USA and Canada but not planning to fulltime. Already live in the best location in the USA and have a wonderful large home we fully enjoy, so if it's not broke, why really mess it up trying to fix it then?
