Gonna pop in here with the 'quality' comments of 'out to dinner"... It seems most of the restaurants nowadays are brand or franchise. So, you get a basic menu that probably began its life on a trailer hauling the food all over the country, and a menu derived from price point to what you can haul easily.
Difficult to be a creative cook with those restrictions. Mom & Pop restaurants are hard to find, and when you do, it's really a treat. Most M & P survive because the menu and food is good and different than franchise.
We go out local a few times a month a home and less on the road unless we find a M& P that looks good, then we're on it instantly. We travel a few months, then home a few months, with a few short trips between the longer - we probably spend half time on the road ...
