As others have reported, there should be a 2 wire jumper provided when you get your RV. This is for emergency use. Clip the 2 leads on one end to the exterior terminals on the awning motor. Touch the other end of each wire to a cordless drill battery. Reverse polarity if moving in wrong direction.
I have used the method for rolling up neighbor electric awning when weather kicks up while they are away.
I don't remember ever seeing an electric awning ripped off and RV. But I have seen several manuals torn away from the RV. People seem to think they are safe if they are tie down. Well, they won't rip out of the ground. But they'll tear off the side of the coach. I have seen that happen too many times.
Bottom line...if you have a manual awning roll it up. And that is best for electric awning as well. It's just that the electric awning is much more convenient to do.
