First thing you have to realize that 13K is a lot different than 8 or even 10K.
Second, adjust the brakes.
If you read my post, I did the brake adjustment and found they were in adjustment. My questions are clearly stated, can you contribute?
I did answer your question. While you may believe you adjusted the brakes, in fact they could still be too loose. From wheel tight you need to back off only to the point the wheel turns, maybe 3 to 5 clicks at most.
donn0128, I don't want to have a discussion on how to adjust brakes, it just clutters the thread, I'm 64 years old and remember how to adjust drum brakes. My questions are specific to what should I expect since I've never towed a trailer of this weight.
Back on the topic. I have activated the manual control, fully, while driving at 23 to 30 MPH and the best I get is a slight drag, nothing like what is described in the responses here.
I'm going to measure the current draw this week, Dexter said I should see about 3 amps per brake or 12 amps in total. Dexter also told me it takes about 100 stops for the brakes to fully seat. May be I just have to wait it out. The current measurement will prove out I don't have a voltage or grounding issue between the RV and the tow vehicle.
I'm just concerned because to stop at a traffic light that decided to change, I need to stand on the truck's brakes to stop.
