Resender with his almost ubiquitous support for EVs, even defending them to a fault and rk911 who’s universal distaste or distrust for technology appears to favor his 46 Willy’s and rand McNally for transportation.
My question is......20min sounds great for a 300mile supercharge. Not much of a hinderance to most Id think.
But what is not being contemplated is the infrastructure required and the cost to the end user (not yet an issue in the subsidized infancy of EVs) to recharge along with the 500 other people that pull off the freeway to get charged at any given time.
20min stop = 500 parking spots and charging ports. 40 min stop = 250 each. 100each spots = 3+ hour delay.
Not really practical once all your neighbors are driving EVs.
And if it becomes practical, those that think it’s going to be anywhere near free are sorely mistaken.
We’re still in the free sample stage, like the ladies at the grocery store handing out samples of lunch meat and frozen dinners!
Just a heads up. Fast charging is not free. But it is about three times what it costs at home.
I don’t defend EV’s ubiquitously but I do correct misinformation which there is a lot of. I have no problem with ICE vehicles. Our diesel pusher serves us well. Get what serves you best.
