I'm in a position to haul for CWRV transport, and need some workcamp type advice for my fiver. I live near P-Cola, but would want the fiver near the depot for return trips. I won't be staying in it all the time, but would need an inexpensive solution, as it will be sitting most of the time. I'm thinking about state parks, but they usually have time limits, though there seems to be several in that area. The fiver mostly just takes up space in my yard right now, and it would be nice to also free up my yard. I'm also thinking that storing it until use may be cheaper, but could be wrong.

Again, this is only asking for the camping side; I understand the issues associated with hauling, as my folks hot-shotted for years. I won't make a fortune, more of getting to travel and finally getting some real use out of the truck.

  • Look around the area you want to stay.

Some campgrounds will have storage lots within the campground.

Some will even pull it out of storage and place it on a campsite when you a ready to use it, and then put it back in storage when you are done.
  • Thanks for the info; I could also save money by just staying in a Walmart overnight, if I only need a day before pulling again.
  • Not sure what your budget is for a site but we have stayed at the Elkhart County 4H Fairgrounds in the past and it is a fairly nice place for the price - http://4hfair.org/rv/rvcamping/ and quite close to some of the major manufacturers and suppliers. (Just watch spots near the back fence - the well-used train track is just beyond the hedgerow!
  • Storage may be your best option since many camping type parks (and especially state parks) don't allow 'vacant' rigs - from your description something you would be doing while transporting. So, that opens up a whole different set of options such as storage lots, rv park storage etc. where the chief concerns would the cost and the security.
