Equalizer Brand Hitch - Weight Bars Position Question

Do the weight bars need to be parallel to the trailer frame? I was thinking they are suppose to be parallel. The installer has mine pie sliced shaped but pulled well except for a little popping.

I've got the same hitch. IMO, they should be level, or parallel as you say. The bars should ride flat on the L-piece on the frame. That's part of the friction control. You can download the manual from Equilizer and double check everything. Very easy to set up correctly and very easy to do wrong.
