Equalizer hitch frustration

I will call tech support in morning but need to vent in the mean time.
This is new hitch for me, so wasn't informed enough to challenge the youngster when it was installed. The outside link plate was upside down and the L-bracket was installed in lowest holes. Tt has typical coupler
style.
Tt tracked o.k. going home, but had very hard time removing side bar. Sockets would not swing out to drop bars. Yes, jack was raised up. I untightened the socket bolts but still can hardly swing socket with 5foot pipe.
  • I have had a difficult time swinging the arms. Each time it was do to one of two, not having the joint where the bar holders are lubbed up enough and or the bolt being torqued more than 45-50#'s. The RV dealer where I received my TT and EQ had everthing lover torqued.

Also you may have the L brackets up too high. Parallel with the trailer frame is best, if you need to add a washer do so.

I have dealt with EQs customer service and received good care.

    Good luck.
  • RV Wholesalers did mine, and did an excellent job of it. They had some difficulty with the drop required (TT to TV drop, in my case) - had to hunt around for one big enough, but they got it done right.
  • Very few shops know how to set up any equalizing system, let alone the Equal-i-zer. The manual is very clear. Just start over and follow the steps exactly and you should have no problem. Their phone help or on-line help is also great so don't hesitate to use it.
  • I am sorry for your set up issue, obviously that should not happen, I love my Eq and it is easy to operate and set/remove the bars once correctly installed. I'd personally have a little chat with the shop foreman to save others the same problem, apparently a little education is in order.. :)

    Good luck and happy camping.
