We got our first Equalizer brand hitch for our current trailer. It is now adjusted so that I feel no push when transports pass on freeways. After making a number of adjustments starting from the Equalizer manual defaults I found what seems to work best is:
st - adjust ball height so that trailer is level or a little nose down.
nd - adjust "L" brackets so the bars are parallel to the trailer tongue. This results in the bars riding flat on the bottom of the "L" which maximizes the friction for anti sway. after use it is easy to see the wear on the bracket.
rd - Use as many washers as necessary to bring front of truck to the proper height. For my Chev it was back to unloaded height. I understand that for new Fords it should be halfway back down to unloaded state.
th - Use a torque wrench on the bolts - especially the tongue brackets and the socket bolts on the hitch head.
th - grease the hitch socket area. Do not grease the "L" brackets. Put up with the noise.
