I would like to get a new equalizer hitch with sway control.TT wt. = 6600 lbs.Tng wt. = 680 lbs.Add wt. = 100 - 200 lbstotal TT length = 26.5'I do not want a friction control device. I also want a system that is not overly complicated to set up or hook up. I only notice sway when traveling on the freeway (60 mph) and when passed by a semi. Lastly my Silerado 2500HD has a 2.5" hitch I would like to use the hitch without the need of a reducer. I would love yur input and recommendations.Thank you.

:H The Equalizer IS a friction based anti sway system. Often folks use the TERM Equalizer in place of Weight Distributing System but Equalizer is a brand of weight distributing hitch that DOES use friction based anti sway integrated into the hitch. Reece Duel Cam is a system that uses detents in the spring bars fitting into cams to proactively control sway. Friction based anti sway will exert the same force in KEEPING the trailer/tow in a curve position as it does in keeping it straight. The Duel Cam exerts nearly zero force when straightening out from a turn but a whole LOT of force to maintain that straight line when going straight.The Equalizer is a very GOOD hitch so don't think I'm putting it down. Just understand that it IS a friction based system.Good luck / Skip

The Dual Cam is also a friction based system ,although more refined than the others.Either one wiould be a good choice rather than the traditional WD hitch. There are others also.Barney

Equilzer owner here, and it's a good hitch, but on that size trailer, check out the new Anderson hitch for your needs. Google the topic and read a bunch. Good solution for those with small trailers and the need for something simple.You said you don't want something complicated to set up, and I don't know what you consider "complicated", but the Equilizer and Dual Cam require some thought and effort to set up correctly. Once that's done, they're both good choices. The Anderson is much simpler and might suit you better considering the size of your trailer.

I towed a similar trailer for many miles with a 2500HD with no WD and had no complaints. Sometimes we rush to judgment on what will cure our problems. A new hitch is not always the answer. Tires, tongue weight, axle alignment, and other things might be worth looking at before spending money on a fancy hitch that may not be necessary. I like to buy things too, so I understand where you are coming from.

I have not installed the friction sway on my new TT yet and might just wait till I need it. If there was a system much better than the old round bar and friction anti sway I would consider it as long as it is easy to hook up.

Having towed the exact same trailer with my 03F150, 07 Dmax classic and now our 12 F150, buy the Equa-lizer with the 4 point sway, set it and forget it. We have over 30k km of towing and have never had a problem with wind or semi's.

Upon cleaning up my old round bar hitch I see the holes that the bars go in are somewhat worn. Might be looking for a new WD hitch with sway cont. Reading that the Equalizer is noisy and stiff and the Dual cam is tricky to get set up right and noisy. Others are big bucks. So what to do?

I would look at some of the other WD hitches that include sway control in their design.
Some examples would be Husky, Blue Ox, and Andersen. Those are no more expensive than the ones you mentioned.
