Establishing residence in Nevada for full time rver

I'm new to full time rving and would to know whats required to establish residence in Nevada using a forwarding service for an address. I have been told you need to prove you lived in Nevada for 30 days, but havent been able to confirm this.

Any input will be appreciated

  • I don't understand the tax issue as there's no state income tax, however, I don't own property since I'm full time, so it could be a property tax issue. Clark County does require smog testing, but Nye county does not. The smog thing has not been an issue for me, but we do plan to transfer our residence to Pahrump in Nye county in a year. No smog and the vehicle registration is a bit cheaper.

Once you have established residence here the DMV is easy to work with as they recognize full time RVers due to all the remote properties they have in the state. Our mailing address is all we have and on the change of address for the DMV for physical address they said to state "full time RVer". They will also remove you from the Jury pool.

Go onto the DMV website to see what evidence you will need in order to get a licence here. For instance they don't consider a California driver licence as a valid ID, you will need other proof.
  • You may get more input by posting this under the fulltime heading. There are several issues with Nevada. One is taxes and depending on the county such as Clark (Sin City) needing smogged.
