Eternabond cleanup

Finishing up my Shadow Cruiser pop top truck camper roof rebuild and need advice on cleaning the Eternabond tape
Pressed it down (maybe TOO much ) and some of the adhesive has slightly oozed from the edges .
Anybody know how to clean that up?
Was thinking maybe an acetone wipe but don't want to hurt the tape.
TIA,
Mike

  • I'd consider using Eternacaulk or a clear (not silicon) caulk on the edges so they don't get dirty. Dirty edges don't affect functionality, just looks.
  • thanks for the replies.
i made the edges look worse than necessary because I had a six inch end cap to cover and only two inch tape so there's a lot of edges on the overlaps.
    i'll just leave it alone.
    thanks again,Mike
  • Edges can be cleaned with acetone or mineral spirits, just apply with a rag and don't pour directly on the rubber roof. It will not hurt the Eternabond. Website recommends applying a thin bead of sealant along the edges to seal them. They have their own "M-1 sealant" I have used dicor lap sealant successfully. Also states it keeps the edges from lifting in the wind. Never have seen that happen, don't want to.
  • I just would not worry about the ooze, it won't cause a problem - I think it means you've installed it correctly. Any solvents to remove the ooze may loosen more than you want to loosen.
