LOL, I would bet a lot of money that they have never ran a smog machine like I have.
I'm no alky fan, that's for sure. But it's silly to say things like E10 causes a 10% loss in mileage. That would mean the alky has no BTU's at all. Or E10 causes more pollution.
The truth of the matter is any time you add an oxygenating agent you're going to cut down on smog and pick up on power. Why do you think people run alky in race cars? Why do you think people that race cars use nitrous OXIDE. The clue is in the second word!
The truth is only a smog machine away.
E10 has been mandated in my State for a number of years. I doubt that is going to change.
When we had annual inspection stations run by the State, a workaround for passing inspection with any old vehicle was to run the tank down and put as much Isopropyl as we had on hand in the tank. That old oil burner turned into a Prius on the gas sniffer, lol.
