A few years ago during the winter, I pulled into an upstate S.C. State Park the morning after an ice & snow storm had moved through the area. The roaring contractor generator powering the Park Center and offices was an ominous clue. But, having some business appointments stretching over several days, I needed a place to hang out other than Walmart.
After advising me that power lines were down, no water at the sites or the bath houses, and not knowing when those services would be restored, the Ranger reluctantly acquiesced and gave me a site... lol, at full price, no less. I also received permission to run my generator. Winter travel up north taught me long ago to haul water. Being the only camper in a 39 site wooded SP for 3 days & nights was awesome.
