That way you would have a smidge of that stuff in the carb if any is remaining in it.
I do this on my '01 power boss 5500 Generac that has lots of long hours when newer. It now sits in the garage.
Each spring before storm season starts I drain the gas and add fresh with Stabil...then run it for 10 min or so. I have a 18hp Briggs/18 hp Kohler and a 23 hp Kohler in various garden tractors and a zero turn that I can use the old gas a couple of gallons at a time.
I repeat the procedure in October before winter snow and ice storms hit.
I've done this the last 6-8 years and the 11 hp Briggs starts the first pull every time.
