Exterior paint schemes and interior design.

Hello everyone, I'm a relatively new RV'r, getting ready to Snowbird and explore winters without 4' of snow! My major grip in searching for a new "rig".....is twofold! 1. I really hate the all too common RV paintjobs that feature all the silly swirls, "french wave" design and all too common paint schemes....... 2. Interior design that hasn't changed much since the 1960's mobile home parks. So how does one influence the RV industry to abandon their all too tacky flowery interior design, tacky cheap, yet made to look expensive trim, $1.50 a square yard carpet, and window treatments reminescent of houses of ill repute? lolol..........Essentially I wish the industry would begin designing a tastefully done interior and exterior scheme without all the flowery, OVER DONE tackiness that has become the trademark of the entire industry? JB

This is how ours came. We think it is very stylish and we love it.

Sweeet! But where are the mirrors, cameras & very high def monitors?
  • I agree completely! A couple of tips - if you'll be spending time boondocking in the desert without electric hookups buy a light colored RV. The difference in inside temperature with a light and dark exterior can be considerable. And remember that you can change the interior fairly easily by painting the walls, recovering the window treatments and using throws on the furniture. Pay more attention to the floor plan and then change what you can. Have fun and good luck with your search!
  • I am with you JB's Cabin. I just cannot see the goofy swirls, swoops and clashing color schemes they put on these RV's. I don't find the interiors to be bad, albeit I cannot see white and light tans in the world of outdoors. What's worse it does not take a long time for these graphics to deteriorate in the hot sun. Then you have one big expense on your hands to replace them or paint the whole rig. I saw a fiver coming down the high way yesterday that looked ridiculous,it looked like a duck had been walking all over it. Guy had a real nice truck though.

  • They do make campers you can customize, but you'll end up paying a million dollars for them. You can take any RV and have it repainted to anything you want, but it will cost you. Mass produced - factory produced campers are designed for the "average" person to be able to purchase and enjoy. So, they have to be "mass" produced with basic color schemes and patterns. If you don't want the "standard" look, then you'll need to start your search under "customized RV." And once you've seen the price, well ... "mass produced" won't look so bad any more.
  • The great thing about the swirls, if they are various shades of brown, is that they don't show dirt nearly as much as a white RV. Instead of feeling compelled to wash it weekly, we only wash it every month or so. Except for the front. I never realized there existed this many large, wet bugs in the world.
