So far, every post is from a male. And all of you are missing the point. For you, its an adventure. For the wives, its just a different kitchen. No adventure there. Restaurants are everywhere. Make a deal.
My post was from me - Kathy - not Dave. We actually had the reverse situation. I always wanted to travel while Dave wanted to live in a retirement community and play golf 6 days a week. When we first retired, we moved to Florida, built a house on the golf course and we both played golf six days a week.
We had a smaller motorhome then that we used to travel in for about 3 months in the summer to escape the Florida heat. When we were returning one summer, after 5 years in Florida, I was the one to suggest selling the house, buying a bigger motorhome and going full time for 3 - 5 years.
Dave agreed because he knew that I really wanted to do it. Now last year after 7 years of full timing, we built a smaller motor home port home in central Florida. We are still traveling in the motorhome about 8 months of the year. Over the past 8 years we took the grandsons with us on several trips. Sometimes Dave flew to pick them up and bring them back to the motor home and sometimes we picked them up in the motorhome. Sometimes I flew back alone to visit my Mom and sometimes he flew back to visit his kids.
Bottom line we both showed respect for what the other wanted to do and we both compromised at some point in time. We didn't see it as one winning or losing but both winning maybe just not at the same time.
